Patricia Grant

Patricia Grant was a member of the Tomintoul and Strathavon Highland Games Committee for well over forty years, the vast majority of this as Secretary.

A year-round job, the new Games Day started for Patricia the moment the old one was put to bed at the “Greetin’ Meetin’". Her job required her to organise everything from the Judges to the Porta Loos & everything in between.

Organising all done, Games Day started officially with the legendary (very) early breakfast for all. Dishing out homemade black pudding along with the bacon & sausage before sending various members of the committee off out to start their allotted tasks. When she wasn't dishing out “breed and cheese” and a good puckle drams in the dark recesses of the old secretaries hut she was striding up and down the park, clipboard in hand, kilt blowing in the breeze, making sure everyone and everything was going to plan (her plan anyway!).

She was the most disorganised organiser, but she always got everything done. If anyone could keep two Pipe Bands & six tug o’ war teams in order, they must have been doing something right. She didn't suffer fools gladly but if you were a friend, she was loyal, kind and generous to a fault. She was weel kent round all of the Games circuit from Aberdeen to Aboyne, Dufftown to Drumtochty and she helped out wherever she was needed.

The Tomintoul Games Committee has not only lost its Secretary but an admired & respected friend. Patricia is someone who will not be replaced easily and will be sorely missed by all. .

She wull aye bide in oor herts.
